Crafting Made Easy

I am impressed now more than ever with my mom and others who were craft masters before blogging. It is so easy today. Now if I have an idea of something, I just google it and there are at least ten different tutorials on exactly what I want to do. So here are some shots of the ideas I copied this week.

Crayon Roll-up Carrier

I made one for Benson's Easter basket and one for my neice and nephew for their upcoming birthdays.

It really was super easy and doesn't take much fabric at all, so I can use pieces I already have...which I love.

Fabric covered bulletin boards

I made these for the kids "new" room. Again, using leftover fabric and not much time.

The tutorial said to use a staple gun. I started with that, but found the glue gun to be better.

A pot full of flowers

There was no google search for this one- just an idea in my head.

Benson helped me bake flower sugar cookies with sticks in them.

We then colored styrofoam for the grass but later just put green frosting over it. (:

And then delivered them to friends.

New twist on my classic

I loved this yellow gingham fabric I found on clearance and wanted to do something different for Reagan's dresses than what I usually do, so I added this little lace and the ribbon ties.

I don't like the ribbon ties too much. Maybe I will once I try it on her....or I will probably take them off and just add regular sleeves. I do love the little trim....even if it is pretty Southern belle country.

Quilts

So I have finally finished the fronts and backs of the kids' quilts. It shouldn't have taken very long, but I re-did Reagan's three times and Benson's twice. You think I would have figured out what I wanted with my 12 pieces of two inch scraps of the fabric a month ago. But even after hours of rearranging those scraps and taking countless pictures I still was undecided. But I think this is the finished product.

Now I just have to "quilt" them. I think that will be the hardest part for sure.

The Big Bed Adventure

In preparation for moving the kids into the same room to make room for the new baby, I have been researching bunk beds. I came to the conclusion that Benson being six feet above the ground with a ladder in the dark wouldn't be the most condusive to his adventuresome, non-graceful, personality.

I found what I thought was the perfect bed, but it was way too pricey for our not-quite-yet-graduated budget. So I was so excited when I found it on Craigslist! I sent Tristan and one of our good friends an hour away in a U-Haul to pick it up in more than a few pieces. They got it all unloaded and then Tristan had to go. So I decided I could put it together...by myself, without any assembly instructions. It took many hours, but I finally got it up.

I won't be putting the other twin bed together until we get the mattress for it in May, but it will go where the stuffed animals are currently sleeping. Here is a picture from a website, so you get the idea.

Jimmer Time

Benson and I made this cake for BYU's Sweet Sixteen game. I copied it from a football field cake, so it took a little while to figure out how to make the basketball hoops.

Benson had his first field trip with his preschool class to a petting farm. Reagan and I tagged along and she loved it.
